How to Style Palazzo Pants + Welcome to My New Blog
Ahhhh! I'm so excited to be sharing this with you guys! Rebranding my blog has been on my mind for a hot minute now, I was just too scared to take that leap. Then one day, I just felt it so heavy on my heart to just go for it....I heard ya, God!...so I did, and here we are! But before we get more into WHY I rebranded and tips I've learned along the way, let's talk more about my newest obsession, these striped palazzo pants and how I like to style them!
My Newest Obsession: Palazzo Pants!
So you may be saying, what the heck are palazzo pants?? Well, let me tell you, these loose, wide leg pants are going to be your new best friend! I posted on my Instagram Stories that I ordered a pair; I got numerous messages asking, "How in the heck do you style palazzo pants?" I honestly think the possibilities are endless. You can style them how I did here with a plain tank top like this one that I'm wearing, with a bodysuit or even dress them down a bit with a cute graphic tee!
I actually ordered this flowered print originally but when I got them in the mail, I was sent these striped palazzo pants instead, and I wasn't even mad about it because I am obsessed with these! (Just a note: they are the same brand, same price, as the flowered print and I did contact the retailer to let them know, and they told me I could keep this pair or send them back) They are easy, breezy, comfortable and high waisted (which I love) and I love the fact you can dress them up or down. Bottom line, these palazzo pants, wide legged pants, whatever you want to call them, are nothing short of pure perfection and can be worn in the spring, summer and straight into fall.
So now a little more on WHY I decided to rebrand my blog and my advice if you have been considering it too!
You can read a little more about why I started my blog in my FAQ section, but I seriously felt a push from God to go for it. First off, Choosing a blog name is HARD! Like, really HARD! Initially, I started my blog on the platform Blogger, and it was great just starting out. I came up with the name "Loving Londyn" after my oldest daughter, Londyn.
Big tip of advice....when choosing a blog name, think five years down the road....will that name still pertain to you and your brand/business?
Sure, I loved the name for my blog at that time of my life, and I still do, but I wasn't thinking that soon, we were going to have more children. And if I probably told people I was going to start a blog, they would have maybe mentioned that to make me reconsider the name. I'm kind of a secretive person, so I usually do something, then tell people after the fact! Now that Maddyn is here, I feel bad that her name isn't part of it too. (that poor second child) ;) I'm a big worry wart, ask anyone in my family. If I'm still doing this blogging thing when Maddyn is old enough to understand (and I sure hope I am), I don't want her to feel like I was showing favoritism to one or the other...you know what I mean??? If Londyn were the only child, I probably would have kept everything the same.
So rewind a bit, I took the leap of faith and published my first ever blog post on 4/15/16. I have really enjoyed the Blogger platform, but it's very limited on what you can do, and you don't actually "own" your blog, Blogger does. So if Blogger were to shut down tomorrow, so would my blog, whereas now, I am on a self-hosted, Wordpress site and I own my blog 100%.
I've also been researching SEO A LOT lately, and Blogger isn't the easiest platform to try and learn the ins and outs of it, where Wordpress has plug-ins to help you. Now, I am not trying to say that you can not be successful on Blogger, trust me, there are lots of bloggers who are, but for me, I felt like it was holding me back, and I felt like I was struggling to try and grow my actual blog. So, with a big push from God, and lots of going back and forth, I decided to make a move to Wordpress. I figured, okay, if I'm going to do this, NOW is the time for me to rebrand. If I don't do it now, it probably won't happen, and that is how Oh Hello, Jackie was born.
I kept going back and forth on transferring all my posts from blogger, but honestly, I kind of wanted to start fresh. Plus, I used the "label" function in Blogger wrong for the first year and a half and just reading about how labels transfer to Wordpress sounded like a disaster on its own. Loving Londyn will remain for now, but there won't be any new content published. I may republish popular posts to this site in the future before I redirect that site to here.
I've been working on this site for a while now trying to learn the ins and outs of it. I know you can hire someone to do it all for you, but I'm the type of person that I like to learn things, study them and figure it out on my own. If you know me, you know I HATE asking for help, I usually drive myself crazy trying to learn things on my own, which is a quality I need to work on. Sometimes I overwhelm myself when if I had just asked for help, it would save me a lot of stress, haha! Anyone else like that???
So anyway, that's a little tidbit on why I decided to rebrand my blog. Though I'm the type of person who doesn't like to ask for help, I do enjoy helping others, so if you have any questions about anything, feel free to ask.
So for now, bear with me while my site doesn't have too much content and you may see some changes here and there as I'm learning all this mumbo-jumbo! Also, if you followed me on my Loving Londyn Facebook page, I had to change that to a whole new page. I'll make a post there directing you to my new business page, but Facebook would not allow me to change my name because they said it would confuse my current followers (insert eye rolls). What would really be confusing would be any new followers wondering why my facebook page was called 'Loving Londyn, in my eyes.
So here is my NEW facebook page if you want to follow along.....Oh Hello, Jackie: Facebook Page
So with alllllll that being said, thank you for stopping by and welcome to my new blog!!!
